HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!!!

Language Arts:

    HW - hand out the novel  The Giver
       read the entire book over the winter break
       be ready to discuss and do assignments after
       your return.

    CW - go over the seasonal crossword puzzle
       (Good group brain!  You got them all except one!)

    Gift - my gift to you - don't lose it and keep it until you
       need it.  Thanks for being such great kids to work with

    Funtimes - go to gym to challenge Ms. Bodine's class
       in dodgeball.

Social Studies:

    Review Amendments 1-2-3 and introduce 4
    CW - video sample of a future without our rights
    HW- keep worksheets in your Constitutional notebook
             up to date/completed

    Extra Credit - H.O./HW   read a fictional war book of a
       minimum of 175 pages.
       The U.S. must be a part of the war.
       See the pink handout for further directions
       Storyboard due January 22, 2008

    Gift - see above notes

    CW - Read "The Gift of the Magi" by O.Henry
             Focus;  situational irony

            Read two pages and write brief descriptions
             of the two characters:  Della and Jim

             Write your ending of the story.
            
             Read the final page of the story.
             Write a moral based on the story.
             Class discussion

    Bring your seasonal worksheet tomorrow for
             a group answer session.

Social Studies:

    CW - Amendment 2-
       Brady Bill - 1993
       Examples of gun control/laws
       Means what in today's society?

    Amendment 3 -
       When would this amendment be ignored?

    HW- finish page 103 and 104 for tomorrow

    ws - page 102-105   work on in class
       finish page 102 today and start on 103
       for Thursday - bring to class

          in L.A. class"

    Finish reading "A Christmas Carol"
       Discuss themes, changes, comparisons
       CW /HW - comp ws - due Tuesday

Social Studies:

    Correct corrupt powerpoint files so that they
    can be graded.  All overdue work is due this
    week.

    Students evaluate powerpoints - see check list
       CW -  complete three evaluations

    The Cows have left my room for the week.  Talk
       to me or Ms. McClintick about using computers.

NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY - TEACHERS GRADING DAY

Language Arts:

    CW - Read Stave Four and discuss
       Turn in vocabulary worksheets

    HW - finish the story over the weekend
             Complete Staves Four and Five for Monday.

    Note:  all printed poems due today by 4 pm

Social Studies:

    Review the "Plessy  vs  Ferguson" decision

    Cw-  finish all product details
          Classroom is open before/after school and
          during lunch
    Print posters and turn in with your research notes.
    Save your powerpoint to desktop computer for grading
       All work must be submitted by noon on Sunday for this
       grading period. 
       Email me your work at:  huling_p@4j.lane.edu

    Note:  this product is due until the end of the semester as
       we spent three weeks working on it in class.  Deductions
       will be taken - but it is still due. 

Great Job!   to many students who worked hard all week and
    completed their work!   You rock! 

            Have a great three day break     !
